This pattern hack can work for both the jacket and the pullover option!

Before cutting out your vest shoulder piece, measure the length of the pattern piece of the size you'll be making and check that measurement on yourself starting from the base of your neck where your shoulder meets it to about the length of where you'd like it to end, then you can decide to lengthen, shorten or adjust the curve of the bottom of the pattern piece if you wish. Don't forget to take into account the 3/8" seam allowance at the top of the pattern!
You don't really have to do anything different for this hack - you sew the shoulder piece in when the instructions call for sewing the sleeve in, and then all you need to do after is use more bias tape to finish the circular opening! Easy as pie!
